Reflections: When Trust Opens the Door

Welcome to Reflections.

Over the past few months, many of you have shared how much these newsletters have meant to you. Your thoughtful emails, personal stories, and reflections have reminded me that this space has become more than a place to share wellness tips or upcoming events.

It has become a place to pause.

To reflect.

To reconnect with what matters.

My hope is that each week you'll to find a story, a simple practice, or an idea that encourages you to slow down, breathe, and perhaps see something in your own life a little differently.

Thank you for reading, for reflecting with me, and for being part of this journey.

Nancy

Hello Reader

Last week, I wrote about carrying a little of summer with us—not the season itself, but the feeling of slowing down and appreciating what truly matters.

This week, I've been thinking about trust.

We spend so much of our lives connecting through screens that I'd almost forgotten how much trust it takes to meet someone new in person.

We join groups. We follow people whose stories resonate with us. Sometimes we exchange messages for weeks—or even months—before ever meeting.

Then one day, someone takes the first step.

They show up.

Recently, I hosted a sound bath meditation at my home. Among those attending were two people I had never met. Afterward, they shared that they had been a little nervous about coming.

I smiled and replied, "I had to trust too."

Until that moment, I hadn't stopped to think about it from their perspective.

A few days later, another experience reminded me that trust had quietly been growing in a different way. Weeks earlier, a young woman had reached out after finding me online. Together we planned a birthday celebration for her mother—someone I had never met. Over those weeks, trust grew between us, long before anyone walked through my front door.

As I reflected on both experiences, I realized they shared something in common.

On the surface, one was a sound experience and the other a birthday celebration.

Beneath both was trust.

Not the kind that develops over years, but the quiet trust that allows us to take a first step toward someone we don't yet know.

It left me wondering what becomes possible when we're willing to do just that.

That question became this week's blog.

One of the beautiful conversations that followed the sound experience was about how difficult it can be to find even two quiet minutes in a busy day.

So afterward, I emailed participants a simple heart breathing practice. I'd love to share it with you as well.

If you have two minutes today, I invite you to pause, place a hand on your heart, and simply breathe.

Sometimes that's all it takes to reconnect.

Thank you for being part of this community. Your thoughtful replies and reflections continue to remind me that these conversations don't end when I send an email. They continue through each of you, and I'm grateful we're on this journey together.

Living vibrantly,

Nancy

Amaury, Myself and Rob at KSC :-) When did he get taller than me? Hello My Fellow Sage! As I write this, my grandson, Amaury, is sleeping. He's 14—almost 15. They grow up ridiculously fast. He leaves tonight at 7:00, and already I can feel a little sadness creeping in. I love having him here. I love our conversations, our time together, and simply knowing he's in the house. Of course I'm going to miss him. But this morning, as I thought about our last day together, I noticed something. I...

What If It Isn't Summer We Love? Summer is quietly winding down. Even here in South Florida, where warm weather is part of everyday life, summer holds a special kind of energy. Vacations. Family gatherings. Long evenings outside. Time with friends. Somehow life feels a little lighter. Have you noticed that too? Before we turn the page to fall, I invite you to pause for just a moment. What made your heart sing this summer? What moments brought you the greatest sense of peace or joy? What are...

Hola! I'm back home, and it feels wonderful. Mexico was beautiful—the warmth, the ocean, the scenery. As always, I returned feeling grateful. But I also came home with something unexpected: I was carrying more stress than I realized. That surprised me. After all, I was in Mexico. I was teaching yoga, walking by the ocean, meeting wonderful people, and doing work I love. Yet my Oura Ring told a different story. What I realized is that stress isn't always a sign that something is wrong. Even...
