Stress & Reset

Hola!

I'm back home, and it feels wonderful.

Mexico was beautiful—the warmth, the ocean, the scenery. As always, I returned feeling grateful.

But I also came home with something unexpected: I was carrying more stress than I realized.

That surprised me.

After all, I was in Mexico. I was teaching yoga, walking by the ocean, meeting wonderful people, and doing work I love.

Yet my Oura Ring told a different story.

What I realized is that stress isn't always a sign that something is wrong. Even positive experiences require energy. Travel, excitement, changes in routine, social connection, teaching multiple classes a day, and even having fun can place demands on the body.

Stress itself isn't bad.

In fact, many of life's greatest experiences create stress.

The question isn't whether we experience stress; it is part of life and growth.

The question is whether we create enough space to recover from it.

Many of us have become so accustomed to being busy, productive, and constantly connected that we no longer notice what our bodies are trying to tell us. We keep pushing forward, believing we're fine, while our nervous system quietly asks for recovery.

That reflection inspired my latest blog post—and I think many of you will relate.

WHAT THE ZEBRA KNOWS THAT WE'VE FORGOTTEN

Years ago, I heard Dr. Robert Sapolsky explain that zebras experience intense stress when escaping a predator. Their bodies react exactly as they should. But once the danger passes, they return to grazing.

Humans are different.

We often stay in a state of low-level stress long after the threat is gone. Deadlines, responsibilities, uncertainty, technology, even our own thoughts can keep our nervous system activated long after the moment has passed.

The problem isn't stress itself.

The problem is that many of us never fully recover from it.

In my latest blog post, I explore why recovery matters just as much as resilience—and share a simple breathing practice that takes less than a minute and may help you reconnect with what your body is telling you.

WHY BELIZE FEELS DIFFERENT

My experience in Mexico also reminded me why I created the Belize retreat.

I was teaching at a large all-inclusive resort with hundreds of rooms. There were many wonderful moments, but there was also a constant hum of activity—people, noise, schedules, entertainment, and stimulation. Even in paradise, it was difficult to completely settle.

Belize will be different.

It's a small private island where nature sets the pace.

Imagine waking to the sound of the ocean, practicing yoga overlooking turquoise water, enjoying fresh chef-prepared meals, and spending your days snorkeling, kayaking, walking barefoot, reading in a hammock, or simply doing nothing at all.

No pressure to do more.

No packed itinerary.

No need to be anywhere other than where you are.

Just space to breathe.

Space to reconnect with yourself, your partner, nature, and a community of like-minded people who value health, adventure, and meaningful connection.

If you read the blog post, you'll understand why this matters. Sometimes what we need most isn't another vacation. It's an opportunity to step away from the noise and remember what it feels like to simply be.

And because I celebrated my 66th birthday this month, I thought it would be fun to share a small birthday gift: 6% off the retreat.

After all, getting older should come with a few perks. 😊

There are only 3 bungalows remaining, and the birthday pricing will be available for just a few more days.

If Belize has been calling to you—or if you're simply curious and have questions—I'd love to hear from you. Feel free to reply to this email. I'm always happy to chat and help you decide whether this experience is right for you.

A LITTLE NEWS ABOUT MY BOOK

While I was away, I finally made a change I'd been considering for quite some time.

My book now carries a new subtitle that better reflects what it's truly about:

The Vibrant Sage: Restore Your Energy • Reclaim Your Confidence • Live Vibrantly

The heart of the book hasn't changed.

It's still rooted in the same five pillars—breath, movement, nutrition, sleep, and purpose—and the belief that our bodies hold more wisdom than we often realize.

But this subtitle feels more aligned with the journey I hope readers experience.

If you've been thinking about reading it, perhaps this offers a little more clarity about what you'll find inside.

And if you've already read the book, I would be deeply grateful if you would leave a review. It doesn't need to be long. Even a sentence or two helps other women discover it.

Thank you for being part of this community. Whether you're reading the blog, joining me for a class, traveling with me, or simply taking a few moments each day to care for yourself, I'm grateful you're here.

Here's to listening a little more closely to the wisdom of our bodies and creating space for what truly restores us.

To Living Vibrantly,

Nancy

An Ordinary Day Most days don't feel extraordinary. Maybe that's because we stop noticing them. This morning, as I began my day, I paused, took one slow breath, and quietly whispered, "Thank you for another day." It's one of the simplest wellness practices I've ever adopted, yet it has changed the way I experience life. This past weekend reminded me why. A Weekend Reminder Rob and I had the joy of spending the weekend with dear friends, Corrine and Rich. A weekend with dear friends—and an...
